At the Commencement of today’s Public Business, the Leader of the House of Parliament moved a motion regarding the hours of Sitting this day to be from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, which the House agreed.
Secondly, Hon. Piyasiri Wijenayake moved a Private Member Bill entitled “Pahiyangala Conservation and Development Foundation (Incorporation)”.
Then Ven. Akmeemana Dayaratana Thero moved a Private Member Bill entitled “Sihala Sarana Pin Ketaya (Incorporation)”
In today’s main business, the following Public Business were passed by the House.
1. Order under the National Environmental Act - the Order made by the Minister of Environment by virtue of powers vested in him by Section 23W of the National Environmental Act, No.47 of 1980, published in the Gazette Extraordinary No.1466/5 of 10 October,2006
2. Regulation under the National Environmental Act - Regulation under the National Environmental (Prohibition of the use of equipment ( 10 ) for exploration, mining and extraction of sand and gem) Regulation No. 1 of 2006 made by the Minister of Environment by virtue of powers vested in him by Subsection (2) of Section 32 of the National Environmental Act, No. 47 of 1980, published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1454/4 of 17th July, 2006.
3. Order under the National Heritage Wilderness Areas Act - the Order made by the Minister of Lands and Land Development under subsection (1) of section 2 of the National Heritage Wilderness Areas Act, No.3 of 1988 and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 528/14 of 21st October, 1988.
The Adjournment Motion for the Day was moved thereafter by Hon. S.K Subasinghe, regarding the issues arisen in purchasing paddy from farmers.
