Business Passed in the House Today


At the Commencement of Public Business, the Bill entitled “National Institute of Language Education and Training”, was presented to the House by the Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition and the Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Minister of Constitutional Affairs and National Integration.

Then the Leader of the House of Parliament moved a motion regarding the hours of Sitting this day to be from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, which the House agreed.

Thirdly, Hon. Sunil Handunnetti moved a Private Member Bill entitled “Kottawa Sri Punyabiwardana Viharasthana Performance Society (Incorporation)”

The Leader of the House moved the following Public Business on behalf of the relevant Ministers, which were passed by the House as unopposed Business.

1. Order under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act - the Order made by the Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion under Section 14(1) of the Sri Lanka Export Development Act, No.40 of 1979, relating to Cess levy and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1477/16 of 29

2. Regulations under the Protection of the Rights of Persons with disabilities Act - the “Disabled Persons (Accessibility) Regulations No.01 of 2006” made by the Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare under Section 25 read with Section 23 of the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, No.28 of 1996 and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1467/15 of 17

3. Rule under the Births and Deaths Registration Act - the Rule made by the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs under Section 69 of the Births and Deaths Registration Act (Chapter 110) and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No.1471/28 of 17


The Adjournment Motion for the Day was moved thereafter by Hon. Rajavarothiam Sampanthan, regarding the present situation of the country.
