Presentation of Reports from the Committees
(i) The Report and the Minutes of the Legislative Standing Committee on “Local Authorities Elections (Amendments) Bill” was presented by the Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, the Deputy Speaker, the Chair of the Committee.
(ii) The Report of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms was presented by the Hon. (Dr.) Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC, the Chair of the Committee.
(iii) The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Just and Law-Abiding Society was presented by the Hon. W. D. J. Seneviratne, the Chair of the Committee.

Leave of Parliament was granted to the Hon. Rajavarothiam Sampanthan, Member of Parliament for Trincomalee Electoral District to be absent from sittings of Parliament with effect from 17.10.2023, moved by the Hon. Chief Opposition Whip.
Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Chief Government Whip moved the Bill entitled
“Finance”
to amend the Finance Act, No. 35 of 2018 and the Finance Act, No. 12 of 2012; to provide for the exemption of certain persons from the application of the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, No. 1 of 1969; and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Main Business of the House for Today

(i) Conferring the Honour of Senior Instructing Attorneys-at-Law Bill - with amendments
(ii) Regulations under the Judicature Act
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment time on “Language of examination conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountancy” was proposed by the Hon. B. Y. G. Rathnasekara.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1632 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Thursday 19th October 2023.
