A : Meeting for constitution of a Parliamentary Caucus for Persons with Disabilities
Presentation of Reports from the Committees
(i) The First Report of the Committee on Ways and Means for the Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament was presented by the Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Chair of the Committee.
(ii) The Report of the Committee on Public Finance was presented by the Hon. (Dr.) Harsha de Silva, the Chair of the Committee.
Privilege
(i) The Privilege motion that the question of privilege arising out of the matter raised by the Hon. (Dr.) Susil Premajayantha, Attorney at Law, M.P. on 25th August, 2023 in Parliament to the effect that his privileges have been infringed, moved by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament, was referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 118 of the Parliament.
(ii) The Privilege motion that the question of privilege arising out of the matter raised by the Hon. (Dr.) (Ms.) Harini Amarasuriya, M.P. on 18th July, 2023 in Parliament to the effect that his privileges have been infringed, moved by the Hon. Chief Opposition Whip, was referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 118 of the Parliament.
Private Members’ Bills
The Hon. Harshana Rajakaruna was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Hesha Friendship Foundation (Incorporation)”
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 6 of today’s Order Paper) were moved by the House. Item Nos. 1 to 3 were approved and Item Nos. 4 to 6 were debated and adjourned for tomorrow.:-
(i) Order under the Foreign Exchange Act
(ii) Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act
(iii) Chartered Institute of Transport of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) (Amendment) Bill
(iv) Vote of No Confidence against Hon. Keheliya Rambukwella, Minister of Health
(v) Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill - Second Reading
(vi) Social Security Contribution Levy (Amendment) Bill - Second Reading
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1930 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Thursday 7th September 2023.
