Business of the House


Committee of Selection

House agreed to a Motion moved by the Leader of the House of Parliament that notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order 121, the Committee of Selection shall consist of Mr. Speaker as Chairman and Twenty three (23) other members which shall include the Leaders of Political Parties or their nominees to be nominated by Parliament to serve during the current session.

Further, House also agreed to a Motion moved by the Leader of the House of Parliament that the under mentioned twenty-three (23) members do serve on the Committee of Selection in addition to Mr. Speaker who shall be its Chairman during the current Session, in terms of the motion agreed to by Parliament today;

Hon. Kabir Hashim was granted leave to introduce the Bill.

“Tamed Elephants Owners’ Organization (Incorporation)”

Hon. Vijitha Herath was granted leave to introduce the Bill.


Main Business of the House for Today

The following items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 9 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-

(i) Order under the University of Vocational Technology Act
(ii) Two Orders under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act
(iii) Six Resolutions under the Appropriation Act


Motion at Adjournment Time

Motion at Adjournment Time on “Death of Wushu sportsman of D.S. Senanayake College” was moved by the Hon. Lakshman Nipunaarachchi.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1343 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 9th June 2009.
