Presentation of Bills

Road Development Authority (Amendment)

The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration, and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order moved the Bill to amend the Road Development Authority Act.


"Bill to incorporate the S.B. Nawinna Foundation"

Hon. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was granted leave to introduce the Bill.


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 10 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House :-

(i) Local Authorities (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill - Second Reading
(ii) Nation Building Tax (Amendment) Bill - Second Reading
(A division was taken for the Third Reading and passed with a majority of 54 votes)
(iii) Resolution under the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance
(iv) Resolution under the Appropriation Act
(v) Resolution under the Customs Ordinance
(vi) Three Orders under the Special Commodity Levy Act
(vii) Two Regulations under the Import and Export (Control) Act


The following items (appearing as Item Nos. 37, 38 and 40 of today’s Order Paper) were moved as follows:-

(i) Social Service Foundation of Wickramashila Dharmayathenaya in Bandaragama
(Incorporation) Bill
Second Reading passed and referred to the Legislative Standing Committee “A”.

(ii) Samaja Sahana Padanama (Incorporation) Bill
Second Reading passed and referred to the Legislative Standing Committee “A”.

(iii) Kosala Dullewa Foundation for Children with Special Needs (Incorporation) Bill
Considered and passed by the House.


Item No. 32 of today’s Order Paper “Regulations under the Medical Ordinance, - Adjourned Debate on Question (3rd October, 2006)” was withdrawn by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament with leave of the House.


Motion at Adjournment time

Motion at Adjournment time on "Golden Key credit card issue and financial sector crises" was moved by the Hon. Ravi Karunanayake.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1625 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 5th May 2009.
