Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration, and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order moved the following Bills;
Default Taxes (Special Provisions)
to provide for a streamlined and speedier process for the recovery of taxes in default in a time bound manner; to provide for the writing-off of taxes in default in certain circumstances and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
Nation Building Tax (Amendment)
to amend the Nation Building Tax Act, No.9 of 2009
Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape Architects
The Hon. Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development moved the Bill to provide for the establishment of the Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape Architects and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
The Privilege motions that the questions of privilege arising out of the matters raised by Hon. Palitha Range Bandara, M.P. in Parliament on 11th November 2008 and 22nd October 2008, moved by the Hon. M. Joseph Michael Perera were referred to the Committee on Privileges under Standing Order 127.

Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance
Resolution moved by the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order that the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 02nd April 2009, was approved.
Accordingly, the Emergency debate was passed by Parliament with a majority of 81 votes, extending it for another month. 92 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 11 votes were against it.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1635 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Monday 20th April 2009.
