Hon. Indika Anuruddha Herath,— To ask the Minister of Primary Industries,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) compared to the situation prevalent before the year 2014 regarding cinnamon, pepper, arecanut, clove, betel and cocoa crops, whether exports have increased in years 2015 and 2016; and
(ii) if so, separately the percentage-wise increase in the export of each of the aforesaid crops;
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) of the increase in the number of hectares cultivated in these years under the new cultivation programme;
(ii) of the number of processing centers that have been established;
(iii) of the number of instances of distribution of machinery that has taken place;
(iv) of the number of organic villages and spice gardens that have been started; and
(v) if the aforementioned activities have not been implemented, as to what purpose the sum of Rs.500 million allocated from the Budget of 2016 was used;
(c) Will he state—
(i) the names of small export crop promotion programmes implemented in Gampaha District; and
(ii) the increase in the yield as a result of the same?
(d) If not, why?
