2965/2013: PROVISION OF EMPLOYMENT: TRAINED GRADUATES

Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs,—

(a) Is he aware that—

(i) graduates had been called for interviews in 2010 and 2011 claiming that all of them would be provided with employment;

(ii) only a portion of them has been provided with training opportunities;

(iii) arrangements are being made to provide employment to a selected set of graduates who received the above training, on political affiliations; and

(iv) the other graduates who under went that training are unemployed ?

(b) Will he state—

(i) the number of graduates who had been called for the above interviews in 2010 and 2011 ;

(ii) the number of graduates selected for training followed by the interviews;

(iii) whether steps will be taken against officials who arranged for employment to be provided on political affiliations; and

(iv) whether employment opportunities will be provided to all the graduates who under went training, without entertaining any influence ?

(c) If not, why?

(a)          (i)      Graduates who have made their applications in response to the newspaper notification have been called for the interview.

(ii)  The District Secretaries have interviewed unemployed graduates of each district and thereafter all the applicants who have satisfied    required qualifications have been attached for training.

(iii) Appointments have been granted to all graduates qualified in the above manner without any political bias.

(iv) No.

(b) (i)   51,000

(ii)  Number of graduates recruited for training to be granted permanent appointments in Grade III of Development Officers' Service is 50,821

(iii) It is not necessary to take action accordingly as appointments have been granted to all graduates without any political bias.

(iv) It is not the policy of this Government to consider political influence when granting employment opportunities.
