To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development,— Is he aware that— a large number out of those who engage in fishing industry in the district of Hambantota, engage in seine net fishery ; all the seine nets were destroyed due to the Tsunami disaster ; seine net fishing industry has suffered a set back as a result of introduced small fishing vessels to the fishing industry? Will he state — the number of harbours within the district of Hambantota where seine net fishing industry is carried out ; the names of those harbours? Will he inform this House of— the names of the fishermen who engaged in seine net fishing industry in the district of Hambantota prior to the Tsunami disaster and the number of registered seine nets with relevance to each harbour separately ; the number of seine nets registered at those harbours and the names of seine net fishermen, after the Tsunami disaster ; the concessions provided by the government to the seine net fishermen who lost their nets due to the Tsunami disaster ; the names of those who received such concessions ; and the steps that will be taken regarding the seine net fishermen who have not received those concessions so far? If not, why?
