PARLIAMENT

The ceremonial opening of the Student Parliament of Malabe Boys Model School was held yesterday (Nov. 15) under the patronage of the Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera.

Addressing the gathering the Secretary General of the Parliament mentioned that it is the duty of everyone, including the elders, to bring the democratic values and its practical operation to the children. Mrs. Rohanadeera further mentioned that it will be very effective for the country in the future to train children to maintain those values from their school age.

In line with this event, badges were also pinned on the student parliamentarians of the school and it is special that 120 representatives who participated in the program received medals. The Parliament of Sri Lanka also donated books to the school and the Jayawardenepura Education Zone.

The program was organized by the Communication Department of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and a group of officials including the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Parliament Mr. Narendra Fernando, the Education Director of Kaduwela Division were present on the occasion.
