PARLIAMENT

The Auditor General's annual report for the year 2022 and the National Audit Office's annual work program for the year 2024 were presented by the Auditor General Mr. W.P.C. Wickramaratne, to the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Hon. Ajith Rajapakse at the Deputy Speaker's office in the Parliament complex today (Oct. 31).

The Auditor General has worked towards submitting audit reports of more than 2200 institutions including ministries, departments, corporations, boards, authorities, statutory funds, non-statutory funds, foreign aid projects, provincial councils, local government agencies, state companies and other institutions in the year 2022 to Parliament. Activities related to those tasks are included in this annual report.

Furthermore, the Auditor General has submitted several special audit reports to Parliament in the year 2022. Conclusions related to measures to be taken to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of these institutions have been included in this report.

The Auditor General has submitted this annual report to the Deputy Speaker in accordance to Article 154(6) of the Constitution. Moreover, the draft annual report of the National Audit Office for the year 2024 was also handed over to Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, the Deputy Speaker.

Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, the Deputy Speaker stated that the Auditor General's annual report for the year 2022 will be presented to Parliament. Furthermore, Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, the Deputy Speaker stated that the annual performance program of the National Audit Office for the year 2024 will be submitted for the approval of the Committee on Public Finance of the Parliament and then submitted to the Parliament. Furthermore, various Committees of Parliament discussed at length about the scope of the Auditor General and the National Audit Office.

Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Chaminda Kularatne, Director-Legislative Services H.E. Janakantha Silva, Auditor General W. P. C. Wickramaratne, Deputy Auditor General Nimal Thilakaratne, Audit Superintendent N.N.K. Divakara were present at this occasion.
