Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, Deputy Speaker of Parliament announced to the House today (Oct. 03) that a Regional Tsunami Simulation Exercise is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, the 04th of October 2023 to evaluate the national to village-level Tsunami early warning dissemination mechanisms established in Sri Lanka by the Disaster Management Center and to test the preparedness level of coastal communities and school children in Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts.

The Deputy Speaker further stated that the Disaster Management Center is conducting this exercise with the aim to evaluate the national to village-level Tsunami early warning dissemination mechanisms established in Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, the Deputy Speaker stated that the Disaster Management Center has requested to inform all the Parliamentarians including the Members of Parliament representing the coastal districts.
