PARLIAMENT

Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Speaker of Parliament endorsed the certificate on the Anti-Corruption Bill today (Aug. 08) which was debated and passed in Parliament last week.

The Bill was passed with amendments and without a vote in Parliament on July 19th.

The Second Reading debate of this Bill, which was presented to the Parliament on 27th April 2023 by Hon. (Dr.) Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms was held on the 21st and the 6th of July.

Accordingly, this Bill as the Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023 will come into force from today (08).

The Secretary General of Parliament Ms. Kushani Rohanadeera and Director of Legislative Services and Director of Communications (Acting) Mr. Janakantha Silva were also present at this occasion.
