The Hon. Speaker participated in the official state ceremony of His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who won the presidential election held in Turkey having being elected as the new President of the Republic, yesterday (June 4).

At the meeting held, the Hon. Speaker invited the new President to come for an official visit to Sri Lanka in order to further strengthen the years-old diplomatic relationship between the two countries. On behalf of the people of Turkey, President Erdoğan expressed his special thanks to the Sri Lankan government, the members of the armed forces, and the medical staff led by doctors and nurses who came forward to provide relief to the victims during the earthquake in Turkey that shook the world recently.
