The two-day Adjournment Debate relating to “Franchise” brought in by the Opposition scheduled for the 09th and the 10th |

It was decided that the Parliament will convene from March 7th to the 10th this afternoon (Mar. 01) at the Committee on Parliamentary Business held, chaired by the Speaker Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.
Accordingly, the Parliament will convene on the 7th at 9.30 am and time has been allotted from 9.30 am to 10.30 am for Questions for Oral Answers. Thereafter, from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm Three Regulations under the Motor Traffic Act published under the Gazette notifications 2287/28, 2301/17 and 2306/02 are scheduled to be taken up for debate and passed in parliament.
From 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm Motion at the Adjournment Time by the Government will be taken up for debate.
On the 8th of March time has been allotted from 9.30 am to 10.30 am for Questions for Oral Answers. Thereafter, the Resolution under the Essential Public Services Act published under the Gazette notification 2321/07 has been scheduled to be approved without debate.
Thereafter, from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm Notification under the Excise Ordinance published under the Gazette notification 2290/24, Six Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act published under the Gazette notifications 2315/46, 2309/40, 2311/08, 2311/18, 2312/77 and 2312/78, Regulations under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act published under the Gazette notification 2306/54 are scheduled to be taken up for debate and passed in parliament.
It was also decided to present Twenty-Four (24) Motions in relation to the Annual Reports of various Statutory Institutions for approval. Furthermore, it was agreed to present the Private Member Bill, Indira Cancer Trust (Incorporation) Bill for its Second Reading.
Time from 5.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. has been allotted for Questions at the Adjournment Time thereafter.
It was decided to take up the Adjournment Debate relating to “Franchise” brought in by the Opposition till 5.30 pm on the 9th and the 10th. Time has been allotted from 9.30 am to 10.30 am for Questions for Oral Answers on the said day.
