The Petroleum Products (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill to amend the Petroleum Products (Special Provisions) Act No. 33 of 2002 was passed in Parliament today (Oct. 18) with amendments by a majority of 60 votes.
At the end of the second reading debate of the bill held today, the Chief opposition Whip, Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, called for a division and accordingly, 77 votes were received in favor of the bill and 17 votes were received against.
Then amendments were added to it during the committee stage and the third reading was passed without a vote.
