Special program on Parliamentary Procedures for the staff of Members of Parliament

A special awareness program on “Parliamentary procedure” for the staff members of Parliamentarians was held recently (18).

This awareness program was organized by the Department of Communication of the Parliament of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

The research officers assigned to the private staff of the Members of Parliament and the officers of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, were made aware through this program.

The main speech of this program was delivered by the Director of the Department of Legislative Services and Acting Director of the Department of Communications Mr. H. E. Janakantha Silva.

The participants were made comprehensive understanding of the functions of the Parliament, the parliamentary tradition, the legislative process of the Parliament, the committees and their functions, through the program.

Those who participated in the program had the opportunity to have an open dialogue to solve the issues about the legislative affairs of the Parliament.
