The Secretary General of the Parliament, Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake has confirmed in a letter that Member of Parliament (Prof.) Hon. Tissa Vitarana has not voted for the resolution with regard to the Proclamation on the state of emergency declared by the Acting President under the Public Security Ordinance which was debated and approved in Parliament yesterday (27).
The Secretary General has stated that, according to the electronic voting records available in Parliament related to yesterday's (27th) voting, Hon. (Prof.) Tissa Vitarana has not voted for the resolution under the Public Security Ordinance.
This letter has been forwarded in accordance with a request made by the Member of Parliament to the Secretary General as it appeared in some media that the Member of Parliament (Prof.) Hon. Tissa Vitarana had voted in favor of the resolution under the Public Security Ordinance.
