Several High Commissioners and Ambassadors meet the Speaker |

Several foreign ambassadors and high commissioners to Sri Lanka met the Speaker Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday (18).
U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka H.E. (Ms.) Julie J. Chung, European Union Ambassador H.E. Denis Chaibi, New Zealand High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. Michael Appleton, U.K. High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. (Mrs.) Sarah Hulton, Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. David Holly and Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. David McKinnon attended the meeting held at the Parliament Complex.
The speaker stated that as the oldest country in Asia where parliamentary democracy has been protected, all arrangements have been made to implement the parliamentary process of electing the succeeding president in a more transparent manner.
The Secretary General of the Parliament Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake informed the delegation about the parliamentary process of selecting the succeeding president.
The delegation expressed their appreciation for the steps taken to secure democracy in the country.
