The Volume including evidence in relation to the final report of PCoI on Easter Sunday attacks handed over to the library for the use of Hon. Members – Hon. Speaker announces

Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Speaker of Parliament announced to the House that 87 volumes consisting evidence in relation to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into and Report or Take Necessary Actions on the Bomb Attacks on 21st April 2019 have been handed over to the library for the use of Hon. Members of Parliament.
The Hon. Speaker announced that the eighty-seven volumes of evidence by the Commission were handed over to him on 22.02.2022 and that the final report of the Commission was tabled in Sinhala and English on 25.02.2021 with the special permission of the House.
Motion for Leave of Absence in respect of the Hon. Roshan Ranasinghe, Member of Parliament for Polonnaruwa Electoral District was moved by the Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Education and Leader of the House. It was seconded by Hon. Johnston Fernando, Minister of Highways and Chief Government Whip.
Also, the Report under Standing Order 52(6) of the Parliament on the Bill entitled “Sisira Jayakody Siyapatha Foundation (Incorporation)” was presented by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament.
The Parliament convened at 10.00 am and time was allotted till 11.00 am for Questions for Oral Answers by the Hon. Members. Thereafter, at the commencement of business of the House, the Intellectual Property (Amendment) Bill No. 36 of 2003 was introduced in Parliament by the Minister and Leader of the House, Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena.

The Adjournment Motion on “current socio-economic situation of the country” was proposed by the Hon. Eran Wickramaratne. Many Members from the Government and the Opposition spoke until 5.20 p.m. Following a member raising a question regarding the quorum and given the absence of the required quorum, the Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 05.27 p.m. until 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 24th February 2022.
