‘A’ : Endorsement of the certificate on a Bill under Article 79 of the Constitution
Presentation of Reports from the Committees
(i) The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education and Human Resources Development was presented by the Hon. (Prof.) Ashu Marasinghe, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. Vadivel Suresh.
(ii) The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Legal Affairs (anti-corruption) and Media was presented by its Chairman, the Hon. Ajith Mannapperuma.

Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media presented the Bill entitled
“Excise (Amendment)”
to amend the Excise Ordinance (Chapter 52).
Privileges
The Privilege motions that the question of privilege arising out of the matter raised by-
(i) Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, M.P. on 09th November, 2017 in Parliament to the effect that privileges of the Members of Parliament have been infringed; and
(ii) Hon. Roshan Ranasinghe, M.P. on 23rd November, 2017 in Parliament to the effect that his privileges have been infringed
moved by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament, were referred to the Committee on Privileges under Standing Order No. 127 of the Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 7 of today’s Order Paper) were moved by the House. Item Nos. 1 and 4 to 7 were approved and Item Nos. 2 and 3 were adjourned for a future date-
(i) Appropriation (Amendment) Bill - Division was taken (53 in favour; 08 against)
(ii) Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties Bill - Second Reading
(iii) Safeguard Measures Bill - Second Reading
(iv) Notification under the Excise Ordinance
(v) Two Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act
(vi) Resolution under the Essential Public Services Act - Division was taken (52 in favour; 08 against)
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1126 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Tuesday 23rd January 2018.
