Presentation of Reports from the Committees

The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Economic Development was presented by the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. J. M. Ananda Kumarasiri.

Select Committees

House agreed to the following Motions moved by the Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Leader of the House of Parliament-

(i)    Select Committee of Parliament on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

to grant an extension of time till 20th November 2018 to present the Final Report to the Parliament.

(ii)    Select Committee of Parliament to look into and report on the possibility of enabling Sri Lankans employed overseas to exercise their franchise in future elections and matters incidental thereto

to grant an extension of time till 20th May 2018 as the Committee is unable to report its findings to Parliament within the time limit granted by the motion agreed to by the Parliament on 06th April  2016.


Main Business of the House for Today

(i)    Appropriation Bill (2018) - Committee

Today is the Ninth Allotted Day of the Appropriation Bill (2018) – “Committee Stage Debate”.

(ii)    Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act (appearing as Item No. 2 of today’s Order Paper)

were approved by the House.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1725 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 21st November 2017.
