Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, the Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe made a Ministerial Statement regarding the Economic policies and future development plans of the government
Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Gayantha Karunatileka, the Chief Government Whip presented the Bill entitled
“Local Authorities (Special Provisions)”
to provide for calling of fresh nominations and the holding of elections in respect of two Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Northern Province where elections to such sabhas have been postponed due to unforeseen and urgent circumstances; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Private Members’ Bills
The Hon. Bandula Lal Bandarigoda was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Hesha Friendship Foundation (Incorporation)”
The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
Regulations under the Motor Traffic Act
was approved by the House.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1607 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Tuesday 7th November 2017.
