Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Higher Education and Highways and Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled
“Office on Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions)(Amendment)”
to amend the Office on Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act, No. 14 of 2016.
Private Members’ Bills
(i) The Hon. Anura Sidney Jayarathne was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Hector Appuhamy Helping Hand Charity Foundation (Incorporation)”
(ii) The Hon. (Dr.) Kavinda Heshan Jayawardana was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Global Humanitarian Foundation (Incorporation)”
The above Bills (i) and (ii) were referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.
(iii) The Hon. (Dr.) (Mrs.) Thusitha Wijemanna was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Association of Traditional Officials of the All Island Historical Devala (Incorporation)”
The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Buddhasasana for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “State of Economy prevailing in the country” was proposed by the Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1900 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 22nd March 2017.
