Ministerial Statements
Minister of Higher Education and Highways and Leader of the House of Parliament replied to the Question raised by the Hon. Anura Dissanayaka under Standing Order 23(2) of the Parliament regarding the Proper action to be taken by the Government to fill vacancies that occur after admissions of undergraduates to the State Universities of Sri Lanka each year
Private Members’ Bills
(i) The Hon. (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“International Women’s and Children’s Rights Council (Incorporation)”
(ii) The Hon. Sisira Jayakody was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Kelaniya Ashokarama Silumini Foundation (Incorporation)”
The above Bills (i) and (ii) were referred to the Minister of Women and Child Affairs and Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare respectively for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.
The Hon. Malith Jayathilake was granted leave to introduce the following Bills;
(iii) Heart to Heart Trust Fund (Incorporation)
(iv) Polonnaruwa Buddhist Society (Incorporation)
The above Bills (iii) and (iv) were referred to the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and Minister of Buddhasasana respectively for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
Land (Restrictions on Alienation) (Amendment) Bill
was passed by the House with amendments.
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Return of lands in Keppapulavu, Mullaitivu occupied by the security forces to the original inhabitants” was proposed by the Hon. M. A. Sumanthiran.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1904 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Thursday 9th February 2017.
