Motions for Leave of Absence
Leave of Parliament was granted to the Hon. Arumugan Thondaman, Member of Parliament, moved by the Hon. Muthu Sivalingam, to be absent from sittings of Parliament with effect from 07.06.2016.
Presentation of Bills
(i) The Hon. Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine moved the Bill entitled
“Homoeopathy”
to provide for the establishment of a Homoeopathic Medical Council; for the registration of Homoeopathic Practitioners and Homoeopathic Pharmacists; for the registration and regulation of Homoeopathic Institutions; to promote, foster, and Regulate the Homoeopathic system of medicine and for the regulation and control of the manufacture, importation, storage, sale and distribution of homoeopathic medicine, drugs and other homoeopathic preparations; to repeal the Homoeopathy Act, No.7 of 1970 and to make provision for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
(ii) The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled
“Mediation Board (Amendment)”
to amend the Mediation Board Act, No.72 of 1988.
Private Members’ Bills
(i) The Hon. Sunil Handunnetti was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Janakaraliya Cultural Foundation (Incorporation)”
The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Education for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).
(ii) The Hon. Lakshman Ananda Wijemanne was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Sri Lanka Women’s Conference (Incorporation)”
The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Women and Child Affairs for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on the “Education” was moved by the Hon. Bimal Rathnayake.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1840 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 8th June 2016.
