(ii) The Hon. M. S. Thowfeek was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Kulliyyathul Imaam Shafiee Arabic College (Incorporation)”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Post, Postal Services and Muslim Religious Affairs for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).

(iii) The Hon. Mohamed Navavi was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Nida Foundation (Incorporation)”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-

(i) Prescription (Special Provisions) Bill - with amendments
(ii) Select Committee of Parliament to look into and report on the possibility of enabling Sri Lankans employed overseas to exercise their franchise in future elections and matters incidental thereto


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on the “Dissatisfaction of the duties performed by the officers in the Commission to Investigations of Bribery or Corruption” was moved by the Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1905 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Thursday 7th April 2016.
