Order made by the Minister of Higher Education and Highways under Section 27(1) of the Universities Act, No. 16 of 1978 on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission in relation to the establishment of the;

(i) University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1947/24 of 30th December 2015
(ii) University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1948/59 of 08th January 2016
(iii) University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka and published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1948/60 of 08th January 2016

Private Members’ Bills

The Hon. M. S. Thowfeek granted leave to introduce the following Bills, entitled

(i) “Naduathul Ulama Arabic College, Mutur (incorporation)”
(ii) “Ridhwaniyyah Arabic College (incorporation)”
(iii) “Bareerah Muslim Ladies Arabic College (incorporation)”

The above Bills were referred to the Minister of Post, Postal Services and Muslim Religious Affairs for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).

(iv) The Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Bill to amend the Sri Lanka Institute of Interior Designers (Incorporation) Act, No.2 of 1998”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Housing and Construction for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1325 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 6th April 2016.
