Ministerial Statements

(i) Minister of Public Administration and Management, the Hon. R. M. Ranjith Madduma Bandara replied to the Question raised by Hon. Anura Dissanayaka regarding the problems faced by the unemployed graduates

(ii) Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, the Hon. Chandima Weerakkody replied to the Question raised by Hon. Anura Dissanayaka regarding the Non-receipt of benefits for the people of this country of the massive drop in the oil prices of the world market


Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled

“Registration of Persons (Amendment)”

to amend the Registration of Persons Act, No.32 of 1968.


Private Members’ Bills

The Hon. Abdullah Mahrooff was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Rishad Bathiudeen Foundation (incorporation)”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 14 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-

(i) Three Orders under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act
(ii) Seven Orders under the Excise Ordinance
(iii) Order under the Finance Act
(iv) Order under the Stamp Duty (Special Provisions) Act
(v) Two Resolutions under the Customs Ordinance


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1830 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Friday 11th March 2016.
