Ministerial Statements
(i) Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, the Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe made a Ministerial Statement on related to the Economic situation of the Country
(ii) Minister of Higher Education and Highways and the Leader of the House of Parliament, the Hon. Lakshman Kiriella replied to the Question raised by Hon. Douglas Devananda regarding the Road Development work in Jaffna District
(iii) Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media and the Chief Government Whip, the Hon. Gayantha Karunatileka informed the House that the Bill entitled, “Right to Information” would be presented to Parliament during the next sitting week
Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Minister of Justice and Minister of Buddhasasana moved the Bill entitled
“Prescription (Special Provisions)”
to enable special legal provisions to be made in respect of persons who were unable to pursue their rights in court for the recovery of any immovable property including land due to the activities of a militant terrorist group which prevailed in Sri Lanka and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on the “Missing Persons and Persons in Custody” was moved by the Hon. Rajavarothiam Sampanthan.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1830 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 9th March 2016.
