Ministerial Statements

Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, the Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe replied to the Question under Standing Order 23(2) raised by the Hon. Anura Dissanayaka, regarding actions pursued for cases of corruptions


Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the following Bills entitled

(i) National Minimum Wage of Workers - to provide for the payment of National Minimum Wage by employers to workers and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

(ii) Budgetary Relief Allowance of Workers - to provide for the payment of a Budgetary Relief Allowance by employers to workers and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.


Private Members’ Bills

(i) The Hon. M. A. Sumanthiran was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled

“Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Amendment)”

The above Bill was referred to the each Provincial Council for report to Parliament under Standing Order No. 46 A (2) (a) of Parliament.

(ii) The Hon. Harshana Rajakaruna was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled

“Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka (incorporation)”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5) of Parliament.


Main Business of the House for Today

Regulations under the Registration of Persons Act

was passed by the House.


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Municipal solid waste transport to Puttalam” was moved by the Hon. Mohamed Navavi.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1745 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Thursday 11th February 2016.
