The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).


Main Business of the House for Today

Appropriation Bill (2016) - Committee

Today is the Twenty Fourth Allotted Day of the Appropriation Bill (2016) – “Committee Stage Debate”.

The Appropriation Bill (Budget) 2016 was passed with amendments by the House today, with a majority of 109 votes.

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 2 to 21 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-

(ii) Order under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act
(iii) Notification under the Excise Ordinance

(v) Regulations  under the Insurance Industry Act
(vi) Resolution under the Inland Revenue Act

(ix) Twelve Resolutions under the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (Division was taken. 156 were in favour. Approved by a special majority of two thirds)
