Public Petitions were presented by the following Hon. MPP:-

Ministerial Statements

Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, the Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe made a Ministerial Statement on the increase of women representation in Local government bodies


Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Chief Government Whip moved the following Bills entitled

(i) Penal Code (Amendment) - to amend the Penal Code (Chapter 19).

(ii) Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) - to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No.15 of 1979.


Private Members’ Bills

The Hon. Ali Zahir Moulana Seyed was granted leave to introduce the following two Incorporation Bills;

(i) Casimi Foundation
(ii) Seyyed Sheikh Koya Thangal Mowlana Foundation

The above Bills (i) and (ii) were referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare and Minister of Post, Postal Services and Muslim Affairs respectively for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).

(iii) The Hon. Jayantha Samaraweera was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Sathmethsithhaula Society (incorporation)”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Buddha Sasana for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).

(iv) The Hon. (Mrs.) Sriyani Wijewickrama was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Jayanthipura Subasadaka Sangamaya (incorporation)”

The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).

Appropriation Bill (2016) - Committee

Today is the Seventeenth Allotted Day of the Appropriation Bill (2016) – “Committee Stage Debate”.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1826 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Saturday 12th December 2015.
