Presentation of Reports from the Committees

(i)    The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Transport and Communication was presented by the Hon. Lakshman Ananda Wijemanne, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa.

(ii)    The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Economic Development was presented by the Hon. Edward Gunasekara, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. J. M. Ananda Kumarasiri.

(iii)    The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security was presented by its Chairman, the Hon. Malith Jayathilake.

Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government moved the following Bills entitled-

(i)    Municipal Councils (Amendment) - to amend Municipal Councils Ordinance (Chapter252).
(ii)   Urban Councils (Amendment) - to amend the Urban Councils Ordinance (Chapter 255).
(iii)  Pradeshiya Sabha (Amendment) - to amend the Pradeshiya Sabha Act, No. 15 of 1987.


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 5 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House:-

(i)    Order under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act
(ii)    Four Orders  under the Extradition Law


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1755 Hrs. until 1430 Hrs. on Tuesday 3rd October 2017.
