The resolution to remove Mr. Deshabandu Tennakoon from the post of Inspector-General of Police passed by a majority vote

In accordance with Section 17 of the Removal of Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002, the Resolution presented for the removal of Mr. T.M.W. Deshabandu Tennakoon from the post of Inspector-General of Police was passed by a majority vote in Parliament today (Aug. 05).

Gazette notification issued declaring all electricity supply services as essential services to be presented to Parliament tomorrow for approval

The Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne today (Sep. 23) decided to present the Gazette notification issued by the Hon. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake declaring “all services connected to the supply of electricity as essential services” to Parliament tomorrow (24) for approval. Accordingly, the gazette notification No. 2454/68 issued on 21.09.2025 under the Essential Public Services Act No. 61 of 1979 is scheduled to be presented for approval tomorrow without debate.
