After four decades, large-scale renovations of the Parliament of Sri Lanka commence
Under Cabinet approval, these renovations of the Sri Lanka Parliamentary Complex, taking place after a period of more than 42 years, are being carried out on the instructions of Hon. Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
The resolution to remove Mr. Deshabandu Tennakoon from the post of Inspector-General of Police passed by a majority vote
In accordance with Section 17 of the Removal of Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002, the Resolution presented for the removal of Mr. T.M.W. Deshabandu Tennakoon from the post of Inspector-General of Police was passed by a majority vote in Parliament today (Aug. 05).
Report of the committee of Inquiry appointed by the resolution passed by the Parliament on Tuesday the 08th of April 2025, in terms of Section 5 of the Removal of Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002, to remove the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. T.M.W. Deshabandu Tennakoon from the office of the Inspector-General of Police for misconduct and gross abuse of power of his office in terms of Sections 3(d) and 3(e) read with Section 5 of the said Act

| 1. | අංක 52 දරන ස්ථාවර නියෝගය යටතේ පෞද්ගලික මන්ත්රීවරයෙකුගේ පනත් කෙටුම්පතක් පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ලැබීමෙන් පසු පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය එය භාෂා තුනෙන්ම සසඳා බලා ස්ථාවර නියෝග අංක 52(4) ප්රකාරව ගැසට් පත්ර අතිරේකයක් වශයෙන් පළ කිරීමට අවශ්ය කටයුතු කළ යුතුය. |
| 2. | ගැසට් පත්රයේ පළවීමෙන් දින දාහතරක් ඉක්ම ගිය පසු පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය විසින් ස්ථාවර නියෝග අංක 52(5) ප්රකාරව එය පළමුවැනි වර කියවීම සඳහා න්යාය පත්රයට ඇතුළත් කරවා ගැනීමට කටයුතු කළ යුතුය. |
| 3. | පළමු වර කියවීමෙන් පසුව පනත් කෙටුම්පත මුද්රණය කළ යුතු යැයි නියෝග කරනු ලැබීමෙන් ඉක්බිතිව පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය පනත් කෙටුම්පතට අංකයක් වෙන් කොට මුද්රණය කරවා, 52(6) වන ස්ථාවර නියෝගය ප්රකාරව වාර්තා කිරීම සඳහා එය අදාළ අමාත්යවරයාට ඉදිරිපත් කළ යුතුය. |
| 4. | අමාත්යවරයාගේ වාර්තාව පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ලැබුණු පසු පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය භාෂා තුනෙන්ම එය සසඳා බලා මුද්රණය කොට පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට අවශ්ය කටයුතු කළ යුතුය. |
| 5. | අමාත්යවරයාගේ වාර්තාව මාස 6 ක් ඇතුළතදී නොලැබුණහොත් අංක 52(7) දරන ස්ථාවර නියෝගය ප්රකාරව එය භාර මන්ත්රීවරයා කැමැති දිනයක දෙවැනි වර කියවීම සඳහා පනත් කෙටුම්පත න්යාය පත්රයට ඇතුළත් කිරීම පිණිස අවශ්ය කටයුතු පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය විසින් කළ යුතුය. |

ස්ථාවර නියෝග අංක 53 |
| 1. | ස්ථාවර නියෝග 53 යටතේ වන පනත් කෙටුම්පතක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් සලකන විට, පනත් කෙටුම්පත භාර මන්ත්රීවරයා 53(1) ස්ථාවර නියෝගය ප්රකාරව පුවත්පත් වල සහ ගැසට් පත්රයේ භාෂා තුනෙන්ම පළ කරන ලද දැන්වීමේ පිටපත් ද සමඟ යෝජිත පනත් කෙටුම්පත මහලේකම්වරයාට භාර දිය යුතුය. |
| 2. | ඉහත සඳහන් කර ඇති ආකාරයට දැන්වීම පළකිරීමෙන් මාසයක කාලයක් ගතවීමෙන් අනතුරුව ස්ථාවර නියෝග 52(4) ප්රකාර පනත් කෙටුම්පත භාෂා තුනෙන්ම ගැසට් අතිරේකයක් ලෙස මුද්රණය කරවා ගනු ලැබීමට පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය පියවර ගත යුතුය. |
| 3. | ගැසට් පත්රයේ පළ කිරීමෙන් දින දාහතරක් ගත වීමෙන් අනතුරුව ස්ථාවර නියෝග 52(5) ප්රකාර ප්රථමවර කියවීම සඳහා පනත් කෙටුම්පත න්යාය පත්රයට ඇතුළත් කිරීමට පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය පියවර ගත යුතුය. |
| 4. | ප්රථම වර කියවීමෙන් හා පනත් කෙටුම්පත මුද්රණය කිරීමට නියෝග කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව ස්ථාවර නියෝග 52(6) ප්රකාර පනත් කෙටුම්පතට අංකයක් වෙන්කරවා එය මුද්රණය කිරීමට සලස්වා ඉන් අනතුරුව වාර්තා කිරීම සඳහා අදාළ අමාත්යවරයාට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය පියවර ගත යුතුය. |
| 5. | අමාත්යවරයාගේ වාර්තාව පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ලැබීමෙන් අනතුරුව එය භාෂා තුනෙන්ම සංසන්දනාත්මකව කියවා බලා ඉන් අනතුරුව මුද්රණය කිරීමටත්, සභාගත කිරීමටත් පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය පියවර ගත යුතුය. |
| 6. | මාස හයක කාල සීමාවක් තුළ අමාත්යවරයාගේ වාර්තාව පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට නොලැබුණහොත් ස්ථාවර නියෝග 52(7) ප්රකාර එය භාර මන්ත්රීවරයා කැමැති දිනයක දෙවන වර කියවීම සඳහා පනත් කෙටුම්පත න්යාය පත්රයට ඇතුළත් කරවා ගනු ලැබීමට පනත් කෙටුම්පත් කාර්යාංශය පියවර ගත යුතුය. |
| 7. | අමාත්යවරයාගේ වාර්තාව පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ සභාගත කර පනත් කෙටුම්පත දෙවැනි වර කියවීමෙන් අනතුරුව එය ස්ථාවර කාරක සභාවක් වෙත යොමු කරනු ඇත. (ස්ථාවර කමිටුවල ක්රියා පටිපාටිය සඳහා කරුණාකර 3 වන පරිච්ඡේදය බලන්න) |
