Library of Parliament - Services rendered to Members
Services rendered to Members
Satisfying information needs of Members of Parliament is the main objective of the Library and it is the main reason for the existence of the Library. The services rendered by the Library are varied. In order to facilitate Members with their information needs, the Library is divided into three main divisions viz. Reference Division, Lending Division and the Research Division.
Important Rules pertaining to the use of the Library
The Parliament Library is exclusively meant for the use of Members of Parliament. On some occasions, they can employ their personal staff to use the library on their behalf. For this purpose they are required to obtain in writing, the prior approval of the Secretary General of Parliament. Special permission is granted to those who conduct genuine research and find it difficult to collect information elsewhere other than from the Parliament Library. The information needs of the Parliament Secretariat staff are also provided by the Library on their request.
If the information provided on the Functions and Services of the library is found to be inadequate by any Member of Parliament he or she is cordially welcome to contact the staff of the Library for more information through the following telephone numbers.
