Department
of the Co-ordinating Engineer
The Co-ordinating Engineer's Department was first established
in 1990 to cater for the Civil Maintenance work of a number
of Parliament buildings including the Parliamentary Complex,
the Speaker's official residence, the Sravasti, Staff Quarters
at Jayawadanagama Housing Complex and the General's House, Nuwara
Eliya.
Later in 1992, the Electrical Section was established to undertake electrical maintenance work done by the Department of Buildings. This includes the operation and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical equipment within the Parliament buildings including Lifts, Air Conditioners, Refrigerators and 1.5 MW Standby Generator Unit.
The Co-ordinating Engineer's Department is also responsible
for liaising with various Government organizations providing
specialized services, for example the Ceylon Electricity Board,
National Water Supply & Drainage Board, Rupavahini Corporation
and Telecom.
The Co-ordinating Engineer's Department also maintains the CCTV Security Surveillance System, Digital PABX Telephone Exchange, CCTV and Sound System in the Parliament Chamber, MATV System and Digital Video Archive System.
